Farm Fresh Eggs

We think happy chickens are the best chickens!

Our girls are pets. They live a wonderfully happy (spoiled) life on the farm.

What makes our eggs the best:

Our chickens are fed all natural, non-GMO feed along with farm grown organic fruits and veggies.

Our chickens are organically raised. That means no chemicals, no antibiotics, nothing artificial. EVER.

Free Range: Our girls are outside in their spacious run whenever the weather allows and are roaming the farm whenever we are home.

We collect the eggs by hand twice a day, lightly wash them, and prompty refrigerate in clear plastic cartons.

We start with a good stock. Our starter birds are from Murray McMurray Hatchery.

Grocery store eggs never come close to the flavor and nutrition of eggs from a small flock of gently raised chickens.

Variety:

Brown Eggs- Rhode Island Red

Light Brown Eggs- Buff Orpington

Green Eggs- Araucana

We learned the process of barrel aging vinegar in northern Italy from a family that has been producing vinegar for several generations. We begin with 3 year old balsamic vinegar imported from Modena, ItalyEach year a portion of the vinegar is moved to a smaller barrel and more three year vinegar is added to the original barrel. Each year a new barrel is started with the oldest vinegar.

We use vanilla beans from three different global locations and age them up to a year in one liter barrels. We make both light (vodka based) and dark (rum based) of each bean type.

While making oak barrel aged vinegar and vanilla is a time consuming, long term process, we know that it produces the best possible product. We never use additives or chemicals. We are creating truly pure and wonderfully flavorful products that are available in extremely limited quantities.

We currently have 3, 4, and 5 year batches available.

We also provide a 'kit' for those interested in home aging vinegar or vanilla -contact us for details.

Farm Fresh Honey

Our bees have been busy this year getting established at the farm!

We have lots of tulip poplar trees which the bees make into delicious honey. We also have loads of clover for them and, of course, they pollinate all of our fruit and vegetables.

In keeping with our organic methods, we do not use any chemical treatments on our bee hives. We practice natural beekeeping.

Organically Grown Blueberries

Our blueberry bushes were planted over 50 years ago and produce wonderfully sweet berries.

New scientific studies are constantly discovering more health benefits that come from eating blueberries!

Our blueberries are available near the end of June in very limited quantities.

Organically Grown Blackberries

We have several varieties of blackberries including a Marionberry (brought to our farm from the Pacific Northwest) and cultivated wild NC blackberries.

Blackberries are a healthy and delicious fruit. Our blackberries are available in very limited quantities near the end of June.

Organically Grown Muscadines

Our muscadine plants are over 50 years old and produce both golden and purple fruit. These are wonderful for eating fresh, making juice, or even making your own wine!

We produce our own wonderfully sweet white wine on the farm from our muscadines.

Our muscadines are available in limited quantities near the end of August.

Garden Fresh Fruits and Vegtables

We grow a large variety of heirloom and heritage vegetables.

We are helping to bring back old seed lines by growing, saving, and sharing seeds.

We do not grow any hybrid plants. Our heirloom plants are not only much more delicious, but they are also more hardy and much more resistant to pests and disease than hybrid strains!

Farm fresh, garden ripened vegetables have flavor and nutrition profiles that grocery store versions can not match.

We think it is unfortunate that so many people will never have the opportunity to experience these moments that are so treasured on a farm.

We are building a community environment where families can come and enjoy what a small farm of yesteryear felt like.

The primary motivation for starting Terra Promessa was to create a sustainable farmstead that would allow the local community to share in this experience.
